The intimate scrawls in this journal point to a clear moment of time where these individuals experienced and allowed a shift in belief. I’m curious what percentage of spiritual but not religious individuals can point to specific moments of shift such as this and how many experience shifts over much longer periods of time?
"I walked the Camino while serving as a missionary at 18, at a time when my faith felt uncertain and the pilgrimage seemed like a “make or break” moment in my relationship with the church. These pages chronicle what some might call my “loss” of faith, but I did not lose it. I set it aside to make way for a new line of thought. For much of my life, my inner dialogue had always been directed toward God; in these pages, you can see me begin to speak to myself for the first time. The journal has since become a kind of personal spiritual text—one that offers no answers, only questions, and still holds a quiet sense of something higher."
