In thinking through spiritual but not necessarily religious perspective as a way of defining one’s own sense of meaning, what happens when something feels unexplainable? How does it change a sense of spiritual but not religious conviction and how does it maintain it?
"This crochet whale was gifted to me about eight years ago by one of my mother’s childhood friends, Rachael. This was the first time I had met her, and only a few months later she passed away from cancer. I have moved around with this whale ever since. I’m not sure what exactly the connection is, but I feel drawn to some kind of energy, and I believe that there is a guiding force, maybe from Rachael herself, that comes from the whale that keeps me grounded in life."
